Conservatives for Canada Launches Stronger Alberta Within a United Canada Campaign

Edmonton, AB – Dane Lloyd, Conservative Member of Parliament for Parkland and Alberta Referendum Lead for the Conservative Party of Canada, announces the launch of the Stronger Alberta Within a United Canada campaign.

“Conservatives have a proud legacy of fighting for Canada since the very dawn of Confederation and continue to proudly defend our country to this day,” said Lloyd.

In the lead-up to the October referendum vote, the campaign will engage Albertans with a message of hope, respect and real change. Conservatives for Canada will make the case for a Stronger Alberta Within a United Canada by highlighting what Canadians can achieve when Alberta is respected and Albertans are heard.

As Conservative Party of Canada Leader Pierre Poilievre said in his June 8th Calgary speech, “the goal should not be to ‘beat’ one another in this referendum. It should be to unite us all when it is over; to show our fellow citizens – all of them – that they belong in Canada, that they are a treasured part of our national family.”

“Albertans don’t have a problem with Canada. They have a problem with an Ottawa-knows-best attitude that has ignored Alberta’s contributions and values, and held our country back,” Lloyd continued. “The answer is not for Alberta to leave Canada. The answer is change in Ottawa.”

Lloyd concluded: “Conservatives helped build this great nation. Under Sir John A. Macdonald, Conservatives united the country with the Trans Canada Railroad. Under the leadership of Sir Robert Borden, Canada emerged as a stronger and more independent nation through the sacrifices of Canadians who served in World War One. Under the leadership of Prime Minister Diefenbaker, we passed the Bill of Rights. Under the leadership of Prime Minister Mulroney, we secured Free Trade. Under the leadership of Prime Minister Harper, we strengthened national unity and Canada’s place in the world.

Conservatives continue our proud tradition of patriotism and nation-building. We urge all Albertans and Conservatives across the province to vote for a Stronger Alberta Within a United Canada on October 19.”
